Consortium to upgrade Prishtina International Airport, Kosovo
Limak Kosovo International Airport JSC Consortium, an alliance between Limak Holding and Aéroport de Lyon, has been awarded a contract to renovate Prishtina International Airport, Kosovo. Under the agreement with the Kosovo Government, the consortium will invest Euro 140 million (US$178 million) in the airport by 2012 and operate it for 20 years.
The construction, to begin in six months, will cover an area of 104,000m², and increase the airport’s annual capacity from one million passengers to four million. The work involves building a new 27,000m² terminal, a new 77,000m² apron, a control tower, ground-handling facilities, fuel storage and parking lots.
The consortium will pay around 18 percent, 50 percent of the total endorsement, which is expected to amount to Euro 400 billion (US$510 billion) in 20 years to the Kosovar State.
