Helsinki-Vantaa Airport has received the Skytrax World Airport Reward prize for Best Airport in Northern Europe.

In the whole of Europe, Helsinki-Vantaa was rated fourth and was in fourteenth place worldwide. Over 9.8 million travellers were surveyed around the globe in 2009 and 2010. The award was granted on the basis of 39 different factors.

Singapore Chang was judged as the best airport in the world with Munich winning the European award. Some 190 airports were included in the survey.

In previous years, Helsinki-Vantaa received recognition in Skytrax research for the best security procedures and baggage handling facilities.
